Audi 04 TT

Congratulations on your new business. The name is very clever. I have a 2004 Audi TT which requires service. Could you tell me if you offer courtesy vehicles or courtesy transportation? Also, do you have any sense of how your pricing compares to the pricing of the dealer?

Hello. We do offer courtesy transportation or, if the vehicle takes more than a day to service, we can arrange for a rental car at a discounted rate. In terms of pricing, we are much more affordable than most, if not all, of the local dealerships. We performed a 55,000 maintenance service last week on a similar vehicle that was about $200 less than what the dealer wanted to charge. Please let me know how many miles are on your vehicle so I can provide you with an estimate. And thank you for finding us!

1997 Honda Civic Bent Valve

Q: I’m not sure if you guys provide mobile services however I have a 1997 Honda Civic at my place in Laguna Beach - The water pump went out so I put a new one in which required removing the timing belt. After getting everything back together..the car won’t start. I’m pretty sure the issue is the timing. What would you charge me to come out and get it running?

A: Hello. Unfortunately, we do not provide mobile service. Just a heads up, your engine is an interference engine meaning if the valve timing is off, you can bend the valves. Repair would entail a cylinder head job which could cost quite a bit. If you want us to take a closer look to diagnose the problem, the car would need to be towed to our location. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Q: Thanks for the advice. Let me ask you this - could the valves get bent from just TRYING to start it? because I could never get it going...

A: Unfortunately, just trying to start it up could bend the valves. The first step is to time the engine correctly. If the engine does not start when timed correctly, that means the valves are bent. If you have the car towed to us, we could take a look at it and let you know if that is the case. Good luck.
